This book is a selection of the best daily sketchnotes from the illustrated travel diary I created during my round-the-world trip in 2014/2015.

My boyfriend and I gave up our jobs, our flat and most of our belongings and went on a backpacking tour around the world. We started in India and kept going East, travelling through 15 countries on the way, until we arrived back in Europe 14 months and many adventures later.

In my diary I collected many moments and stories, big and small, food we tried, people we met, things that made me smile or wonder, thoughts I had and lessons I learned. It took the a form of a light visual anthropology – a collection of notes and observations I made while  got to know the places and cultures around me and myself in reaction to them. It served me as a tool to reflect on the myriads of new impressions and to keep me curious every day of the journey.

This book is published by the German publisher mitp. The title and short introduction text are in German, but all the sketchnotes are in English.
